The ‘Acciona 100% EcoPowered’, was the first zero-emission electric car that participated in the Dakar rally (http://www.dakar.com/). The vehicle was driven by a synchronous electric motor of 220 kW, a power equivalent to 300 horsepower, was piloted by Albert Bosch and Agustin Paya. The objective was to achieve optimal integration of a full electric propulsion technology powered by lithium batteries on a race car, prepared to face such an extreme adventure as the Dakar rally race with its extreme conditions.
Quionne team were responsible for engineering design, construction, validation and career assistance of the electrical system and traction. When the project came at the hands of Quionne, we made a conceptual design of the entire vehicle that would supply the requirements demanded by Acciona. Based on the conceptual design:
– We design the electronic, electrical power and control of the entire vehicle.
– Select, install and tune the electric motor and its independent control system.
– Install and tune secondary wiring of the vehicle, information and control panels.
– We designed and manufactured the battery modules for the project, so they could be integrated mechanical and swapped easily within the chassis designed by Jatóm racing. (More info on pack of batteries, here).
– Design and manufacture a charging and swapping system for the batteries (more info on charging and swapping click, here).
One time we had the vehicle ready, will perform validation tests demanded by the costumer and accompanied as vehicle engineering assistance on their journey in the Dakar 2015.
