The engineers team of Quionne design a battery pack with high security and robustness to be installed in electric vehicle prototype. The batteries were designed based on prismatic modules (LYP) achieving a total capacity of 36KWh.
The aim was to achieve a robust pack to be installed and swaped on vehicles in difficult conditions with electrical safety and mechanical impact resistance. This includes a innovative security system that splits the number of the cells in 5 parts in case of emergency or maintenance . So that the voltage between two points of the battery never exceeds 88V. Thus even with the open battery operation or heavily damaged in an accident, could never be shorted a greater voltage than 88V.
Each prismatic cell has temperature measurement, voltage measurement and balancing circuit, there is also a system that balance cells voltaje and communicates with the car.
The battery pack design allows the cooling air or water as the cells and the terminals are sealed in separate cavities.
12 battery packs of those ones were built for the electric car project Dakar (Link), and were used as swappable packs in the Dakar rally with excellent results and 100% reliability.
Quionne has experience in integrated design and construction of lithium batteries for different types based on cell vehicles.
